Privacy
Of the many values upheld in a free and democratic society, privacy is one of the most important. This is why Forum respects privacy and confidentiality at all levels, and in every design decision.
When it comes to collecting personal data, we’re minimalists. We only ask for basic details like name, email address, and phone number so we can verify that you are who you say you are. In line with GDPR regulations, you can delete the app at any time and we’ll wipe all of your personal data from our records.
We never share or sell any personal data, or meta-data, with 3rd-party organisations. Our revenue comes exclusively from selling the right to create and join groups. We feel this is more fair than offering a “free” service that infringes upon your privacy.
One of the many benefits of using a decentralised mechanism, is that we don’t handle any of the information related to how you use the app. Besides granting the right to create and join groups, for a small fee, all of the data storage and processing takes place on devices – not our servers.
While there’s no such thing as an un-hackable system, cyber-criminals will have a much harder time getting into lots of individual devices, than a single, centralised server. In addition to this, specific information about how everyone voted in a poll/election is erased when the poll concludes, leaving just the aggregated results. This makes it harder still for anyone to extract sensitive information, because they have a limited time window in which to do so.
